Brief report on where the U.S., Oregon and Curry County stand. CDC reported suicide deaths dropped by 2.1% in 2019 compared with 2018, the first time since 2003. During that same period, according to OHA, suicides rates in Oregon went up 7.8%, the largest percentage gain since 2014. Preliminary data shows that suicide deaths did not continue to fall in 2020. While OHA hasn't published final figures for the 10-24 age group in 2018 or 2019, that age group took a 20% in 2018 from 2017. Report s indicate that there is a significant increase in drug overdoses which could impact suicide rate. - Gordon Clay
